About this Monthly Beauty Box

Play by Sephora is a monthly beauty box that includes sample size beauty products for just $10 per month. The products you receive are based on your Sephora beauty profile and includes a mix of makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrance from top brands including Sunday Riley, Drunk Elephant, Marc Jacobs, Make Up For Ever, Tarte Cosmetics, Caudalie, Fresh, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and more!

All of the products arrive in a plastic ziploc top bag along with a fold-out paper that lists everything in your box.

This month’s theme is “Beauty In The Wild”. There are several variations of each month’s Play box so keep in mind that the products I received may not be in your box.

Here’s everything in my March 2020 Play by Sephora box! It includes a mix of haircare, skincare, makeup, and fragrance by Moschino, NARS, GlamGlow, Amika, Fresh, and Laura Mercier. Keep reading for more info on each product!

Laura Mercier Caviar Chrome Eyeshadow Stick in Metallic Taupe – 1g, $17.68 value

This super shimmery champagne eyeshadow stick by Laura Mercier is so pretty and easy to apply thanks to the stick applicator and soft blendable formula. A few swipes on lids or on the inner corners makes eyes dazzle. Be sure to smudge/blend out quickly as the formula sets fast and lasts all day.

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Starwoman – 2ml, $9.45 value

Intensely pigmented and intensely red, this NARS liquid matte lip pigment brings all the drama to lips. While I don’t wear red lipstick, I can appreciate the quick-drying formula and staying power. The formula is kinda watery and a little goes a very long way so apply with a light hand.

GlamGlow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow – 15ml, $14.71 value

Worn alone or under makeup, this creamy moisturizer/highlighter hybrid will give skin a natural-looking glow. The orange sherbert scented formula is lightweight, absorbs quickly, and leaves skin looking healthy and lit-from-within.

Fresh Sugar Mint Rush Freshening Lip Treatment – 2.2g, $12.31 value

I love Fresh skincare products (their lotus dream face cream and soy face cleanser are both go-to’s) and their lip care line is also amazing. This minty lip treatment is formulated with sugar, jojoba, grapeseed, and avocado oils to keep lips smooth and hydrated while time-release technology delivers a burst of minty freshness each time you press your lips together.

Amika Un.Done Volume And Matte Texture Spray – 27ml, $3.54 value

I’ve tried this texture spray by Amika before and was a fan so I didn’t mind getting a can of it to stockpile in my cabinet. The formula is salt-free (so it doesn’t leave hair crunchy like some texture sprays do) and has that classic Amika scent. It instantly adds volume and texture for a carefree tousled look.

Moschino Toy 2 Eau De Parfum – 1ml, $1.52 value

This is the bonus I received this month. This eau de parfum contains notes of magnolia, granny smith apple, white currant, mandarin, peony, jasmine, musk, sandalwood, and ambery woods. It’s considered a “Fresh” scent which I would agree with. I thought I would like this scent based on the notes but unfortunately I found the mix of apple, citrus, and floral notes a little disconcerting so this is a pass for me.

Verdict:

My March Play box was a bit hit and miss. While I loved the Fresh lip treatment, Amika, GlamGlow, and Laura Mercier eyeshadow stick, I was not a fan of the Moschino perfume and the NARS lipstick was a total miss since I don’t wear red lipstick. Value-wise, though, this box delivers as it’s worth $59.21 which is almost 6x’s the $10 box price.

Are March boxes still available?

Yes, if you sign up for Play by Sephora now, you’ll get a March box.
