The food arrives frozen in an insulated box and pre-portioned in special steam bags that you pop in the microwave.
All of the food is sent at once so be sure you have room in your freezer!
Each order comes with an info booklet and a packing slip that lists all of the food in your box.
Inside the booklet, there’s tons of helpful information on how to follow the Personal Trainer Food eating plan as well as info on how to store your food, how to fast track your new eating program to accelerate results, reduce sugar cravings, and bust through weight-loss plateaus. You’ll also find info on how your meals should be structured and guidelines on snacks and breakfasts in case you didn’t order them.
Meats and eggs are unlimited which is awesome so you can always eat enough to feel satisfied. If you’re not into eggs, you can opt for smoked salmon, almonds, apples, cheese slices, or even butter coffee. Most on the program can have up to 2 snacks per day which are typically meat, cheese, olives, nuts, veggies, and apples.
The nice thing about Personal Trainer Food is that you don’t have to count calories! Just follow the simple guidelines and you’ll be on your way to losing weight!
Preparing Personal Trainer Food is super quick and easy as all foods are already cooked and frozen so all you have to do is pop everything in the microwave. All of the food is packaged in individual plastic “bistro” steam bags that have vents to steam the food in the microwave. No need to pierce the bags. I found most of the foods take 1.5 to 2 minutes to heat up.
You’ll have your entire meal ready in under 3 minutes! No cooking or measuring required!
You can however, heat up your food by frying it in a pan with oil, in the oven, or on a bbq.
There’s creative recipes, ideas, inspiration on the Personal Trainer website as well.
Other than eating only the specified foods, Personal Trainer Food requires that you walk at least 20 minutes per day (about 2,000 steps) stating that 90% off weight loss is attributed to diet and 10% to exercise.
It’s important to get your body moving to help your body burn fat.
Some of the benefits of following the Personal Trainer Food eating plan are not just weight loss but also diminished cravings, a smaller appetite, glowing skin, more energy, decreased inflammation, more restful sleep, a happier outlook on life, and more confidence!
If you have questions or need support, you can always phone a weight loss coach at Personal Trainer Food.
Another helpful info sheet is also included that lists foods that promote weight loss including unlimited foods & drinks that will help you crush cravings and fill you up and foods to enjoy in moderation.
Unlimited foods and drinks includes- meats, eggs, leafy greens, non-starchy vegetables, oils, fats, butter, herbs, spices, seasonings, coffee, tea, diet soda, broth, water, and sparkling water.
Foods to enjoy in moderation includes- non-caloric sweeteners, nuts, cheese, apples, sauces & dressings, creamer.
The reverse side of the card lists things that stall weight loss which includes- sugar, starches, protein bars, milk, juice, soda, alcohol, weighing yourself, cheating, and killer workouts.
Now, let’s take a peek at the food I received in my box and my overall take on the program.
Here’s all of the breakfast food I received.
I choose mostly the cheese omelets which were fluffy and tasty paired with the breakfast sausage patties which were also really good!
I ordered some of the hard fried eggs with sausage patties and those were good too albeit a tad rubbery and I missed the cheese that’s in the omelets.
Personal Trainer Food also offers eggs with bacon for those that love their bacon and you can get creative and add salsa and cheese to your eggs.
If you don’t order breakfast, PTF suggests eating eggs with cheese and protein which is easy to do and you can eat as many eggs and protein as you’d like since they’re unlimited.
Cheese may be eaten in moderation.
Here’s all of the proteins which includes lunch and dinner. Basically you eat a breakfast meal then choose a protein for lunch paired with a veggie and then choose a protein plus veggie for dinner as well.
I ordered lots of their angus burgers which were amazing- especially topped with cheese- and lots of chicken too.
I eat a lot of protein topped salads so the chicken strips were so convenient and delicious atop my lunch time salads.
The gluten-free breaded chicken strips and stout cheddar meatballs were the other standouts- I could eat those every day- though I do recommend heating the strips in a fryer or pan with oil since they can come out a bit soggy in the microwave.
And lastly, here’s the veggies! In addition to choosing your breakfast meals and proteins, you’ll also choose your veggies from a huge selection of single variety veggies and blends.
The veggies come out how you would expect frozen veggies to come out in the microwave- some fared better than others- some were soggy and had a lot of liquid after heating.
They taste good but obviously not going to be the same as freshly prepared vegetables so manage your expectations if you heat them up in the microwave.
Also in my box was a bottle of Garlic Butter Sauce (free with every order) which can be used to jazz up the veggies. I was surprised at how good this sauce was and gladly added it to most of the veggies!
There’s several other sauces you can choose from (Sweet Garlic Butter Sauce, Sweet Bacon & White Cheddar Sauce, Sriracha…) for $3 each.
PTF also offers chocolate and vanilla shakes (great for breakfast!!) priced at $13.99 per pack and a “Fasting Pack” for $19.99.
…and here’s a few pics of some of the food heated up!
Stout Cheddar Meatballs – one of my favorites!
Angus Burger – I went through ten of these and added cheese to them.
Cheese Omelet with Breakfast Sausage Patty – Super yummy, could eat this every morning!
Italian Chicken Breast Strips – tasty Italian seasoning made these chicken strips a great addition to my lunch time salads!
I topped my salad with Blue Cheese dressing- yum!
Since I’m already used to eating low-carb, incorporating the Personal Trainer Food into my regular diet was super easy. The food for the most part (veggies can be kind of so-so sometimes) is great and it’s awesome that there’s no weighing or measuring food, cooking, or counting calories plus there’s lots of unlimited foods you can eat so you don’t feel deprived. The program also only requires that you do a minimal amount of exercise per day (walk at least 20 minutes per day) so it’s really easy to follow. It’s also great that there’s a support line you can call if you have any questions about the program. Overall I would recommend this Personal Trainer Food to anyone who wants to lose weight with minimal effort and/or doesn’t have time to cook or is not sure what foods to eat for weight loss. It’s convenient getting the food already cooked delivered to your door so all you have to do is heat and eat- drink lots of water so you’re well hydrated, and get your 20 minutes of walking in! After two weeks on the Personal Trainer Food program, I lost 5 pounds which I would say is a win!
