The full balance is not due up front.
Each Look Fantastic Beauty Box includes the latest edition of Elle UK magazine plus a booklet that contains info on all of the products. This month’s theme is the “Revive” edition so all of the products are meant to help you feel energized, invigorated, and get your 2020 off to the best start.
The box has been redesigned for the new year with bright blue and yellow tones.
Here is everything in January 2020’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box! It includes products from Lord & Berry, Ecooking, Australian Bodycare, and more!
Ecooking Moisturizing Serum, 10 mL (Deluxe Size) – $29.50 retail value
This pricey serum is packed with hydrating ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid meant to replenish lost moisture. Hyaluronic acid is a wonderful ingredient that plumps skin and allows water to absorb into the topmost layer of the skin. For this reason, it is important to follow this serum with moisturizer to add hydration. The serum is fragrance and paraben free as well as vegan. It is a clear gel that feels weightless and skins right into dry skin. It wasn’t sticky and had a very slight tingle when going on. I enjoyed using this serum, but I do not feel that the ingredients justify its price.
Lord & Berry Made to Measure Lip Liner in #3102 Just Naked (Full Size) – $17 retail value
This lip liner by Lord & Berry comes in a light brown nude color. The lip liner advertised in the Look Fantastic Beauty Box booklet (Ultimate Lip Liner in Nude) is not the one I received. The Made to Measure Lip Liner a wooden pencil and comes with a plastic cap that unfortunately came off while the box was in transit. I found that beautiful nude color smeared on the other products in the box. I will keep this in mind if I choose to travel with it! The pencil is a bit dry and tugged on my lips during application. It has a matte finish and blends well with lipstick. Unfortunately, the color is a just slightly too light to my skin tone, so I would not be able to wear it on its own. However, I still like the pencil as a base for lipstick as its matte finish makes it seem budge proof. It would be a beautiful color for those with light to light medium skin tones.
Glov Moon Pads (Deluxe Size) – $9.30 retail value
Glov Moon Pads are an eco-conscious alternative to cotton pads. They are intended to be used with water, cleanser or oil to remove makeup at the end of the day. They are made from a soft, pink polyester microfiber and come in biodegradable bags made from starch. To clean them, you can wash them in your sink with soapy water or in your regular laundry. In addition to removing my makeup, I used this product to apply finishing powder over my makeup as if they were velour puffs. I love these pads not only because they are multi-use and eco-friendly, but also due to their size and strength of the material. Regular cotton pads are small and can fall apart with the addition of liquid. These pads are much easier to use, and I would definitely purchase them again.
Mio Skincare Shrink to Fit Cellulite Smoother, 30 mL (Deluxe Size) – $11.77 retail value
This product is a variation item. Other options include other products by Mio Skincare: Boob Tube Multi-Action Bust Cream or Skin Tight Tightening Body Serum. This product is a delightfully scented cream meant to diminish the appearance of cellulite on any part of the body. It does this by increasing hydration and elasticity of the skin. The formula of this cream is free from parabens, petrolatum, colorants, xenoestrogens, PEGs and phthalates. The key ingredients are coffee arabica oil, Adiposlim (their proprietary trademarked ingredient), Laminaria Digitata, Green Tea, Horsetail, Quinoa Extract, and Shea Butter. The scent of the product and tingly sensation on application is due to the addition of peppermint oil and menthol. While I don’t see myself using this product on a regular basis, the experience of applying this product with the recommended body massage techniques make this product a nice treat!
Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Blemish Stick, 9 mL (Full Size) – $10.45 retail value
The Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Blemish Stick is a good option for naturally treating acne. It comes in a small rollerball applicator filled with 100% tea tree oil. I have been meaning to pick up tea tree oil because I have heard how effective it is for treating acne. It is antimicrobial and antioxidant rich and meant to reduce redness and accelerate healing of acne. I found that it works well at reducing redness and that the packaging makes it easy to apply.
Jo Hansford Expert Color Care Everyday Shampoo and Conditioner, 50 mL each (Sample Size) – $9.41 retail value
This pair is a sulfate free option for those with color or chemically treated hair. It is made with sweet blue lupin peptides which is supposed to help maintain hair color. I only use sulfate free shampoo, so I was happy to see these products in the box. Sulfate free shampoo tends to be difficult to get to a lather while washing your hair. This is not the case with this shampoo. Working up a lather was easy, and the scent was lovely. It smells like fruit candy but is not sickly sweet. The conditioner had a good slip for detangling and had a similar but milder scent. I could see myself buying a full size version of these products, but the price of the shampoo and conditioner ($22 and $25 respectively) is slightly too steep for me.
Overall, this month’s box was a great value. For $19, you get $87.43 worth of product. I find the value of the box to be a little low in terms of the price you pay for the box. Despite this, I really enjoyed the contents. I feel that besides the Ecooking Moisturizing Serum, the products are appropriately priced. I could see myself buying the Glov Moon Pads and the Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Blemish Stick on my own. If I could change something about this month’s box, it would be the Ecooking Serum as the “big ticket” item of the box. It is a nice product, but as the most expensive item in the box, it is a little bit underwhelming. This month’s theme of “Revive” definitely fits with the items we received in the box. When I think of feeling revived and refreshed, hair care and skincare seem more relevant than makeup. The Glov Moon Pads add to that idea by being a tool to remove your makeup. Overall, I would recommend the Look Fantastic Beauty Box based on this month’s box!
