In this box I received a variety of pre-prepped fresh veggies including shaved brussels sprouts, superblend salad, and broccoli rice plus a mix of proteins (smoked salmon, chicken meatballs), grains (quinoa, yuba noodles), plus grab-and-go oatmeal cups, a few sauces, and cookie dough.
On the back of the packing list you’ll find recipes personalized to your box. I made these recipes using the ingredients in my box and found it super simple to pair the ingredients and make the meals.
I was pretty surprised how quickly I could make each recipe- ten minutes or less! The recipes on my list included several stir-fry options, a salad, and a flatbread recipe. The basis of the recipes is to mix and match a protein, grain, and a vegetable then jazz it up with a sauce if you so wish. Super simple with no guesswork- you can even experiment with ingredients to make your own unique recipe!
Some of the meals I made using the ingredients in my box include:
- Stir Fry – Combine wild mushroom chicken meatballs, broccoli rice, and roasted red pepper quinoa cup (this was my fave combination! I loved the quinoa cups which can also be eaten alone as a snack!)
- Stir Fry – Combine spinach garlic chicken sausage, broccoli rice, and lemon tahini (this was another yummy stir fry dish that I enjoyed- the spinach garlic chicken sausage is perfectly seasoned and pre-cooked so a major time-saver!)
- Salad – Combine hot smoked roasted salmon, superblend salad, and lemon tahini (the zesty tahnini sauce was perfect with the spicy, smokey salmon and crunchy superblend salad mix- literally lunch in minutes!)
I also received a few Cherry Chia Maple Oatmeal cups which were so easy to prepare- just add hot water and cover for a few minutes and voila- instant sweet oatmeal deliciousness- great for a quick and hearty breakfast! I would get Hungryroot again for these convenient oatmeal cups alone! I really liked the sweet maple and zippy cherry flavor.
Hungryroot also included a container of their oatmeal spice cookie dough which was really interesting because it’s bean-based! I followed the baking instructions and the cookies came out great and while you won’t mistake these for your favorite chocolate chip cookie, they’re sweet, moist, and a healthier alternative for those with a sweet tooth!
Overall I feel that Hungryroot is a great option for those who want to eat healthier and don’t have a lot of time to devote to prepping meals. I found the pre-prepped, fresh ingredients so convenient and easy to put meals together- just mix and match using the basic recipes- stir-fry, salad, flatbread- and you’ll have a tasty plant-based meal ready in minutes! I also like that you can choose your ingredients so you know exactly what’s coming in your box. If you’re looking to eat a plant-based diet and feel your best, I definitely recommend trying Hungryroot!
