This is a review of GlobeIn’s Premium March “Tasting” box which is $40 per month plus $10 shipping.
Each GlobeIn box contains a booklet describing the theme, items, and background information on the artisans featured in the box, and some special little extras (like a scrumptious shrimp scampi dip recipe this month!). While the prices aren’t in the booklet, costs are included in GlobeIn’s spoilers posts for this month’s box.
Here’s all of the items in the March 2019 GlobeIn Premium Artisan Tasting Box!
Now, let’s talk about each item individually.
Tasting Glasses – Turquoise Rim (Set of 4), Mexico ($45)
For any subscribers that were disappointed they didn’t receive the hand-blown glass with handle set in last month’s Masquerade box, get excited for this month’s tasting glasses! Each glass has dimples for an easy hand grip, measures 3.5″ x 2″, and has a gorgeous blue rim. Like last month’s glasses, these tasting glasses are super sturdy and have a nice hefty weight. They’re hand wash only.
Hand-carved Flight Stand, India
This hand-carved flight stand works so perfectly with the included tasting glasses, I was surprised to see they didn’t come together! The glasses fit perfectly in the flight stand which is carved in India from eucalyptus wood. It’s shaped like a wine bottle and is a gorgeous piece for wall hanging when not in use. For some reason GlobeIn didn’t include a price for this hand-carved flight stand in their spoilers.
Tasting Journal, India ($12)
This hot pink pocket-sized tasting journal is made from 100% recycled cotton and bound using Seeti’s paper-making techniques. Each page has a place to note the beverage name, appearance, aroma, flavor, rating, and more! The unique texture of the paper and the cover are due to the recycling cotton techniques and give the journal a special feel that GlobeIn says is a quintessential quality of Indian paper.
Bottle Opener Necklace, India ($26)
This stainless steel necklace, made in India, doubles as a bottle opener. It’s engraved with a pretty floral design on one side while the other is simply polished. The hole is a perfect size for popping bottles and the necklace will make a great party trick! The pendant comes on a blue cloth cord that’s adjustable for the perfect fit, but could easily be transferred to a different chain if you prefer to use your own.
Handwoven Bottle Coaster, Rwanda ($18)
This woven basket is designed to be a bottle coaster, but of course could always double as a decor basket for holding jewelry and other items. It was handwoven in Rwanda using sisal fibers and sweet grass. The basket is super sturdily woven with a tight weave, and is a truly quality item. It measures 4.25″ x 2″ so should fit most champagne, wine, and 40 ounce beer bottles. The care instructions are simply to wipe clean.
GlobeIn’s Tasting box was an interesting collection of items this month! The tasting box theme is reoccurring in subscription boxes so this collection could have felt familiar, and yet the bottle coaster, tasting glasses with flight stand, and bottle opener necklace were all unique items in this month’s box! I love GlobeIn’s mission and also that they include such detailed information on their artisans in the information packet. The value of this month’s box is $101, not including the hand-carved flight stand that doesn’t have a price listed. Considering that’s double the cost of the box ($40 plus $10 for shipping) not even including the gorgeous flight stand, I think this box has a great value!
