I follow a low-carb diet so I was sent a selection of their keto diet, low carb meals.
All of the meals arrived in an insulated box with ice packs to keep them cool in transit.
Also in the box was a variety of paperwork with helpful Diet To Go info on their meal service, healthy snacks, and other diet tips to get you started on the right path.
Here’s all of the Diet To Go meals I was sent to sample. The meals are packed in sealed plastic containers.
Each meal is packaged in a cardboard sleeve and has a sticker on front with meal name, ingredients, and full nutrition facts.
Now, let’s talk about each meal I received in this Diet-To-Go low-carb meal kit box!
First- the two breakfast options I was sent are:
Cheese & Veggie Egg Bites with Celery Root Hash Browns & Hot Sauce
This was my favorite of the two breakfast options I received. The mini egg bites were packed with spinach, mushroom, onions, red bell pepper, and cheese. One was a veggie bite so it had veggies plus cheese and the other had just cheese including yummy goat cheese plus green onion. Really tasty on their own or with the hot sauce! I really liked the celery root hash brown too which is made of celery root, swiss cheese, almond flour, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Nutrition-wise, this breakfast meal has 300 calories, 19g of fat, 12 total carbs, and 9 net carbs so it’s definitely considered low carb. It was so delicious, I would gladly eat this meal again!
The second breakfast meal I was sent was:
Spinach quiche with Sausage & Green Beans
The second Diet-To-Go breakfast meal was pretty tasty. While I liked the quiche which was made with spinach, roasted red pepper, parmesan cheese, and bacon AND the breakfast sausage link (which I cut up into slices), I wasn’t a fan of the green beans which were pretty tasteless and a bit soggy after microwaving. I honestly felt that the green beans were an unnecessary addition to this meal and it would be totally fine without them. Nutrition facts- 550 calories, 47g fat, 8g total carbs, 6g net carbs.
Now, let’s talk about the other Diet To Go meals I received.
These meals can be eaten for lunch or dinner.
Chicken Roma with Pine Nuts, Spinach Cauliflower Puree & Roasted Tomatoes
In retrospect, I should have take a pic of the chicken sliced up because this chicken breast is filled with a yummy mix of artichoke, red pepper, spinach, parmesan cheese sundried tomatos, and pine nuts– sooo good! The pureed spinach/cauliflower mix was delicious with a dash of salt and the roasted cherry tomatoes which are soaked in olive oil, garlic, and Italian seasoning, perfectly rounded out this healthy and delicious meal. Nutrition facts for this meal are- 410 calories, 19g fat, 14g total carbs, and 8g net carbs.
Chicken & Bacon Cheddar Melt with Roasted Green Beans & Sauteed Spinach
Ok so I didn’t care for the plain green beans in one of the breakfast meals, but the seasoned green beans in this meal are a completely different story! These green beans were really delicious thanks to soy sauce, garlic, sea salt, and canola oil. The chicken breast is smothered in a generous amount of cheddar cheese and bacon and sit atop a small bed of sauteed spinach. You can’t really see it in the pic but it’s there lol. I don’t know if the bacon contains nitrates or not, that was my question when I saw this meal contained bacon. It just says “bacon” on the ingredients list so I’m going to guess it most likely contains preservatives. It tasted really good and took the chicken breast up about twenty notches from boring plain chicken. Would order this again! Nutrition facts- 480 calories, 28g fat, 14g total carbs, 9g net carbs.
Pork BBQ Ribs with Barbeque Sauce & Cheddar Cauliflower Mash
Who doesn’t like ribs?! I sure do so I was thrilled that this meal was included in the box. Yep, you can be on a “diet” and eat ribs- just keep everything else low carb and you’re good! These were cooked so well- the meat easily fell off the bone and they were so tender! The keto-friendly BBQ sauce made of tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worchestershire sauce, spicy brown mustard, hot sauce, paprika, and garlic was good too and I was kinda obsessed with the cauliflower mash which included a mix of cheddar cheese, roasted garlic, milk, and sea salt. Yum yum! Nutrition facts- 700 calories, 50g fat, 13g total carbs, 9g net carbs.
Blackened Salmon on Spinach Cauliflower Puree & Brussels Sprouts
I’m usually disappointed with salmon- and not just in food boxes, but restaurants too- it could be overcooked, undercooked, or fishy- none of which amount to a tasty meal. Much to my surprise (and delight!) the salmon in this meal was cooked and seasoned perfectly and…shockingly– it came out wonderful even after being heated up in the microwave! Diet To Go‘s chef must know a thing or two about fish because this was seriously the best salmon I’ve had in a while! The salmon sits atop a bed of spinach/cauliflower puree (creamed spinach and cauliflower) and is accompanied by a side of steamed brussels sprouts- just be sure to add some salt to both as they were a little bland. An optional lemon slice is also included to spritz over the fish. Overall really fresh tasting and the portion of salmon was super generous too- I was pretty full after eating this meal and it kept me satiated for the rest of the afternoon. Nutrition facts- 420 calories, 21g fat, 19g carbs, 10g net carbs.
I am impressed! The Diet To Go meals I received were all well within what is considered low carb and besides that, they were all really good and tasted clean- you can tell the ingredients in each meal are high quality and fresh. You also can’t beat the convenience of having the meals arrive fully cooked so all you have to do is heat and eat. No trying to figure out what to eat, then procuring the ingredients, and cooking it all- everything arrives at your doorstep on your schedule so you can think about other things! Personally, I eat low carb so these meals were amazing options for low-carb and keto friendly eating. I ate the lunch/dinner options for lunch each day and can’t tell you what a time-saver they are- they really take the “what am I going to eat” stressor out of the equation so I can move on to other things. If you’re not doing low-carb, Diet To Go may be a good fit for you since they also offer balanced eating, vegetarian, and diabetes-friendly meals (plus access to nutritionists and health coaches to answer any questions and provide advice) and you don’t have to be on a “diet” to eat Diet To Go meals- their meals are healthy so I would recommend them for anyone who doesn’t have time to cook but doesn’t want to sacrifice quality ingredients and taste- with Diet To Go, you really do get it all!
