All of the food arrives frozen in an insulated box. Darwin’s pet food is packaged in easy to open plastic pouches so you just scoop out the appropriate amount into your dog’s dish. Darwin’s also sent a storage tub with a lid so any extra food can be stored in the tub and put in the fridge for the next meal.

This box included several varieties of Darwin’s Natural Selections dog food which includes pasture-raised, cage-free, hormone-free, and antibiotic-free meats plus organic vegetables. Darwin’s also offers Darwin’s Biologics food which is conventionally-raised and more economically priced. The varieties of Darwin’s Natural Selections raw dog food in this box includes beef, chicken, lamb, duck, and turkey. Darwin’s offers lots of variety so there’s sure to be a recipe or two that your dog will love! In addition to premium raw dog and cat food, Darwin’s also offers all natural jerky treats so they included two packs of venison jerky to sample.

The ingredients and nutritional breakdown of each recipe is listed on the front of each package as well as feeding directions. Keep all food frozen until needed and thaw in the fridge. Once food is thaw, use it within 48 hours. Darwin’s raw pet food contains only the highest quality free-range and cage-free meats and organic vegetables so you know you’re giving the best food possible to your pet. The benefits of feeding your dog or cat Darwin’s food includes more energy, a shinier coat, and increased immunity.

Now it’s time to meet our taste-tester, Zelda! Zelda is a chihuahua/dachshund mixed breed dog and usually eats Beneful dog food with the occasional Greenies treat. When I got the food out she could smell it right away and got really excited! She knew something special was on the way! As soon as I put the plate down, she gobbled up her food and licked the bowl clean. After she was finished eating, she stood there and looked at the empty bowl I suppose hoping more delicious Darwin’s food would reappear! Needless to say, Zelda was a huge fan of Darwin’s dog food! She wasn’t picky about the flavors either, she seemed to enjoy them all.

I also gave Zelda the venison jerky which, just like the raw food, she really enjoyed. The jerky is in pretty large pieces so I had to hold it for her to bite off chunks and later cut it up in little pieces which was more manageable for her. A larger dog would be fine with these big pieces but a smaller dog like Zelda will need a little help with this super chewy jerky. In similar fashion to the pet food, the ingredients are listed on the front of the package for easy reference.

Verdict:

Overall I was really impressed with Darwin’s Pet Food and happy that Zelda enjoyed eating it! The ingredients are top-notch and there’s no worries about feeding your dog mystery ingredients or weird by-products. With Darwin’s Natural Pet Products, you’re giving your pet the best dog food available for just a few dollars a day so it’s affordable too. For a 12lb. dog, the cost to feed Darwin’s Biologics food breaks down to just $2.15 per day or $2.60 per day for Darwin’s Natural Selections (which is what I reviewed)! If you’re thinking of switching your dog or cat to a raw pet food diet, I highly recommend trying Darwin’s Pet Food!
