Now let’s talk about each product in the box!
DevaCurl Wash Day Wonder Pre-Cleanse Slip Detangler – 1.5 oz. size, $3.50 value
This product is great for people with curly hair. I have curly hair and am not a fan of the cleansing cream from Deva Curl and felt hopeful about liking this product. While it did help detangle my hair a little, I am not very impressed with this product. I felt like it dried my hair our more than normal and I had to use extra conditioner to make it feel back to healthy. I also don’t feel like this helped with any curl frizz or the normal issues that come along with curly hair. Overall, this product was ok, but I’m not sold on it.
Skinceuticals C E Ferulic – 4ml size, $22.13 value
I was really excited to get to try this product! It promises to brighten and neutralize free radicals while the ferulic acid enhances the effects. First off, I feel like the product smells like a hot dog – haha. But, the results are definitely worth it! Sometimes Vitamin C based products can be irritating to your skin, but I did not experience any irritation with this product. I used this at night when going to bed and I noticed an instant tightening feeling after I applied the product. When I woke up in the morning, my skin not only looked brighter, but it also felt smoother and skin tone also looked more even. The only complaint I have is about the applicator. Since it’s a dropper, it allows the oxygen to get to the product which breaks down the Vitamin C as it reacts when exposed to oxygen. So, while I found a little went a long way, you don’t want to keep it too long as it the oxygen will diminish the potency of the ingredients.
First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy AM Gel Cream – Full Size, $36 value
I really like the way this First Aid Beauty eye gel cream feels on my under eye area. It says it’s supposed to hydrate and diminish fine lines and wrinkles. I do feel like the product is very hydrating and putting it on under my makeup in the morning makes my concealer apply more smoothly. It also says it helps blur imperfections. I didn’t feel like I saw much of a difference there, but overall it’s a very hydrating and easy to apply eye cream. I do not feel like it does very much to improve under eye circles, but maybe over time there will be a difference as hydrating the under eye will help diminish under eye circles.
Color Wow Color Security Shampoo – 2.5 oz., $10 value
My first impression when trying this product was that is smells amazing!! It also does not contain silicone or sulfates and it also promises not to leave any product behind in your scalp to clog your hair follicles. Why is this important? Clogged hair follicles leads to thinning hair, increased hair fallout and can even lead to decreased hair growth. With this, I was immediately intrigued! I thought the formula felt very thin at first, but it did get pretty sudsy for a sulfate free shampoo and that always just makes me feel like my hair is cleaner. It also says it will make your hair shiny and I do agree with that statement. It seemed light enough for every day use and I felt even after a sweaty gym sesh, that it made my hair feel clean and not stripped. Overall, I thought the shampoo was nice and I’d like to try the conditioner with it and see how well they work together!
HydroPeptide Anti-Wrinkle Exfoliating Cleanser – 1.7 Fl. Oz. size, $11.59 value
So this product is my new daily cleanser after trying it! I have combination oily skin and typically feel that I need a harsher feeling cleanser with exfoliating beads. This product has the beads in it that are glycolic acid, which exfoliates, and jojoba, which is the closest ingredient to mimic the skin’s natural barrier. I felt that this cleanser was very hydrating, but it also delivered on the cleansing part and made my skin feel very clean without feeling dry. This is a great product for people with sensitive skin as well.
Murad Revitalixir Recovery Serum – 0.17 oz. size, $11.21 value
This serum says that it hydrates while also containing caffeine to help diminish wrinkles and dark under eye circles. I love that I can use this as a face cream and eye cream in one as it makes my night time routine more simple! It was a little tacky feeling when I applied it and I didn’t feel like my skin “soaked” it all in, but it says it’s super hydrating so I’m assuming that’s part of the tacky feeling to the product. I haven’t noticed a difference with wrinkles while using this serum, but with time I hope to see those results. I do feel like I noticed a difference in my under eye circles. So, I may end up using this as an under eye cream only and not all over my face. When applying under your eyes, make sure not to get too close to the eye as I did experience some eye irritation/watery eyes when I applied it too closely.
Strivectin SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate for Wrinkles & Stretch Marks – 0.35 oz. size, $10.82 value
I did not think I would see results with this product, but I have used it on my forehead and dare I say cellulite on the back of my legs. I am sold! I have seen a difference in just a few days on my cellulite and my forehead. And with swimsuit season around the corner, I am going to keep using it on my cellulite! The product description says you will see dramatic results in 15 days and I agree. Some may see more dramatic changes than others, but I personally saw a noticeable difference. In addition to the collagen in this product, it also contains shea butter so it is very moisturizing. I would suggest using a hydrating serum and then using this on top of that for the most benefit. This product contains resveratrol, an antioxidant and helps prevent wrinkles, and lysine, an amino acid which helps rebuild skin. I plan on continuing to use this product!
Skin Inc Vitamin C Serum – Full Size, $35 value
This product has the same dropper applicator as the SkinCeuticals which unfortunately allows oxygen to get to the serum. The oxygen breaks down the Vitamin C and makes it less potent. The description says that it contains Japanese seaweed encapsulated technology to prevent that. When I applied the serum, it did apply nicely and didn’t sit on top of my skin. The description says that it controls sebum production, which is good for people who have issues with acne. I have oily skin, but did not notice a decrease in oil production from this serum. I also did not have any irritation when using this serum. Overall, I felt this product was ok.
Overall, I really liked this BeautyFix box. It’s a great option for someone who wants to try high-end skin care and hair care products without breaking the bank. The monthly subscription price is low ($24.95 per month) compared to the value you get (this box is worth $140.25) and they give you a good variety of products to try out. The product sizes are smaller than what I thought they would be based on the pictures on the site, but there’s still enough of each product to get a few weeks worth and to really see results and then decide the product is something you want to invest in and add to your routine. I enjoyed having both hair and skin care products to try out in the March box and am looking forward to the April 2019 BeautyFix box!
