FaceTory Be Bright Be You Brightening Mask – $4 retail value
This mask was my favorite of the four! It was the tingliest and best smelling of the bunch. There are a lot of citrus extracts in the ingredients which I believe may be the scent I’m catching. This mask claims to aid in skin brightening and give you a glow. The ingredients they highlight are Chaenomeles sinensis fruit extract which is packed with antioxidants to protect your skin from free radicals created by UV damage and lemon fruit extract which is packed with vitamin C to aid with clearing up acne. With all the citrus fruit extracts in this mask, I recommend wearing sunscreen! Another ingredient is niacinamide which has tons and tons of benefits for the skin, so I was impressed to see it. This mask is double layered with gold for which is supposed to block the serum from evaporating off of your skin as you wear the mask. I think this is a nice touch practically and tons of fun aesthetically. The serum felt soothing as time went on. My only complaint about this mask is that the holes for the nose and mouth were small for me. Otherwise, if all the masks, I may consider buying a bunch of this one again!
Yadah Moisturizing Honey Mask – $3 retail value
I have yet to see a mask with a stated goal to aid acne-prone skin, and this one does just that. As the name implies, this mask contains honey extract. Honey is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, and it helps heal acne and hydrate dry, flaky skin. Another featured ingredient is Epilobium angustifolium extract, also known as willowherb extract. This ingredient also helps calm inflammation, especially in acne-prone skin. The packaging features a girl with pink hair in a bee costume. The material of the mask is 100% cotton. The company features of for free system, meaning that all of their masks are free from parabens, fragrances, ethanol, and synthetic colorant. The mask material was comfortable to wear and I loved the faint scent of honey! I love honey as an ingredient in skincare, so this mask is a winner for me.
Baroness Calendula Flower Mask Sheet – $2.50 retail value
The packaging of this sheet mask goes well with the theme of “You’re Golden” since it is bright yellow. Calendula flower is also known as English Marigold, and it has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties used to nourish and treat problematic skin. To me, this means that the mask should help with redness. Panthenol is also known as Vitamin B5 and this helps to pull water deep into the skin and keep skin well moisturized and soothed. It also contains glycerin, beta-glucan, and sodium hyaluronate which are all great ingredients for bringing water into the skin. Unfortunately, this mess does contain ethanol which is known to be bad for the skin. For some reason, the company list the ingredient as “alcohol” and not ethanol. Thankfully, alcohol is lower down in the ingredient list, meaning that it is not in high concentration. It also contains methylparaben. It is good to avoid parabens in your cosmetics and skin care because parabens are known endocrine disruptors. This mask smells like most sheet masks that I’ve used in the past. It has the same tingling sensation that I’m used to as well. The mask material feels strong and durable if you’re the type to reuse sheet masks with the excess serum. The mask claimed that its main effect was to soothe the skin and I feel that it achieved its job! I did not notice a difference in redness, but I don’t have much redness to begin with.
Skin Planet Selection Prestige Gold Lifting Mask – $3 retail value
This final mask fits into our “You’re Golden” theme by containing 0.5% gold! Gold, along with other features ingredients like Portulaca oleracea extract, is an excellent antioxidant. This mask is good for plumping the skin and targeting fine lines. I was hoping that this mask like the one by FaceTory would also have gold foil, but it did not. It is made of the standard sheet mask material. It didn’t stick out too much in terms of experience with the sensation and scent.
Facetory was a pleasure to try out. It’s so great to give yourself time for pampering. I’ve never been to a spa, but I feel that my Korean skincare routine gives me almost as much joy as I would get with a facial. These masks were fun, stuck to the theme really well, and as most sheet masks do, gave me instant results of fresher, softer skin. The only mask that I would rather not try again is the Candelula mask by Baroness. If a lot of brands for sheet masks are staying away from harmful ingredients, Baroness could step it up. The FaceTory branded mask was so much fun to use that it has me looking forward to next month’s subscription to see if it includes more of their masks. Overall, I would recommend Facetory if you love to pamper yourself!
